It was a beautiful day out in Detroit, first time since spring should have sprung!
Fashion, Innovation, Education and Business were the key points presented at the Fashion Summit put together by Michigan Fashion Fashion Week. This was the first and definitely not the last conference. People of all creative backgrounds and expertise were in attendance; so much talent in the awesomely creative College of Creative Studies building. Workshops, speakers, fashion show, networking lets get started!
The conference kicked off with a fashion presentation from local designers and keynote speakers: Aki Choklat (Designer & Fashion Accessories Department Chair @CCS) and
Char Glover (Project Runway Contestant & Designer). One main thing I took away from these two talents is that to never give up on your dreams and it is never too late to start.
There were a series of workshops we were all able to attend based on your interest. The ones I attended:
Workshop 1: How to Put Together the Look held by the talented Courtney Miarka, founder of Closet Fashion Fix & The Styled Life. Although I have some experience being a freelance stylist, I got so much good information that will help improve my services for clients and walked away with a sense of confidence that I can too get there one day!
Workshop 2: Active Blogger by the digital influencer, Mia Ray, Confessions Of A Glam-Aholic. She is an international fashion & lifestyle blogger that put things in perspective for me and reminded me why I started blogging in the first place. It's passion that I am putting forth to my readers. I want to be able to become a huge influence in my reader's lives and make an influence.
Workshop 3: The Polished Look by Grace Liang from Color and Grace. I've had a chance to get to know Grace personally and she has been such a big help to my own blogging and has given very helpful advice. Her focus for the over 40's fashionistas has transformed to into reviving the city of Detroit through promoting local talents and fashion.
No matter the obstacles and frustrations in creating your dream, never give up & no one can be you.
Keep an eye out for the next Michigan Fashion Week: Fashion Summit, Loren Hicks and her team put on a wonderful conference.
With love & MI Fashion,
