Nothing I love more than combining fashion and education. FashionSpeak is Michigan's only conference for the fashion industry. This year's conference was held at the beautiful One Woodward Building downtown Detroit on October, 15th. Detroit Garment Group put on this awesome day to show that we are all capable of bringing fashion into Detroit and keeping talents here. This was an opportunity for the attendees to gain valuable resource, network, and meet great people. I got to hear from students from Central Michigan University (as I am an Alumni), fellow bloggers, designers, and business owners.
There were several workshops addressing various topics such as: What does it take to open a store, career discovery, money, production 101 and the wonderful Keynote Speaker: Kevan Hall-Fashion Designer. Between the professionals and the attendees that had wonderful questions, I walked out of this conference with more confidence with my choice of pursuing my dreams. My favorite part of the day was being able to listen to Rosalyn Karamoko of Detroit is the New Black speak about her journey to get to where she is at. I got the chance to speak with her briefly and she was lovely as ever and I am so happy to say that I get to be do a feature on her and her store in the days to come, so stay tuned for that!
Inspiration & motivation can come from others, it can stem from your willingness to succeed, but it all starts with a dream.
If you have the chance to go to this conference next year I highly recommend it!
