Upcycled clothing & accessories: With a little creativity and experimenting, you can turn old garments into a new piece of clothing. The beauty of this scenario is that you were probably going to get rid of them anyway so if you mess up, it wouldn't hurt too much. It will take some time and practice but why not try this out.
After browsing through some upcycling ideas, I would have to say that my favorite piece so far is turning men's blazers and suit jackets into a fashionable top, looks like something off the runway!
Accessories are the extra pieces to compliment our outfits or in everyday use. If you check out Pinterest, I bet there are thousands of upcylcing ideas but some of these are my favs:
Some pointers to upcycling:
You never know unless you try!
With love & upcyle,
There is one difference when it comes to women and men's fashion and style: women have the ability to bring back old trends and totally rock it out with some modifications but men CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT bring back most or all of their trend's past. On one hand, you have the men who could care less about what decade it is let alone care about what is trending. The other hand, the ones who are keeping up with the current but need a little help or just totally nailing it. The times are constantly changing in this diverse land of fashion and style, who knows in a merely 5 years from now we will all be rocking out clear bubble suits!!
Let's admit it, we have all tried some embarrassing trends and if you haven't you're an alien.
NOTE: If you are currently sporting any of these below, I will say that maybe you just absolutely love it & can't part ways with the look! I feel as if I may offend some men but this is for amusement purposes and not offending purposes :)
For our own look down at men's questionable looks, let's look at some of these style & fashion trends:
This list can go on & on but enough of that. I'm happy that men's fashion and style has evolved and they look as good as us women do!
With love & terrible trends,
"a garment consisting of trousers with a front flap over the chest held up by straps over the shoulders, made of sturdy material and worn especially as casual or working clothes."
As a child, the go to piece of clothing were overalls. Blue jean, cartoon character, short, long, colored, you name it, I wore it. When you think about overalls, you're probably imagining those metal clasps that were a pain to clip in correctly and all of the unflattering features. Did anyone else wear one of their straps unbuckled because it seemed "cool" well I did. Let's fast forward to the present times and when you are telling your friends that you are wearing overalls, it does not go over too well.
Take a look these tips to avoid looking childish.
I tried this look:
Black overall short romper & Black Crop Top both from Forever 21
Black Gladiator heels from Target
Overalls from trend's past into present fashion.
"On Mondays, you usually wake up with a mad case of Loser Complex (LC) from a weekend of drinking and eating more than usual. And your body feels it, hence the glumness. One study found that American women of all ages and locations feel least attractive on Mondays. That’s why you start a new diet on Mondays or even start exercising again."
So you have a relaxing or eventful weekend then you lay your head down Sunday night, next thing you know that pesky annoying alarm goes off and like myself, want to chuck it across the room! So why is that we all dread Mondays so much and what can we do to avoid this "I hate Mondays" mentality? Well actually it's pretty much common sense, most of us full timers with a Monday-Friday job get 2 days out of the week to free our minds and enjoy the little time we have and when we have to go back to our normal routine, it's not fun. I need to take my advice on this myself, but how do we get out of this slump on Mondays? It could take some time and might need to start with baby steps but let's take a look at some of these ideas:
I can sit here and tell you all the ideas and help you get out of the Monday blues but who am I to say that this is how it is going to be every single week. We are humans, we have bad days, bad weeks, bad weekends so if you are feeling a little down on Monday, you will be fine. Just try to be optimistic about what is ahead in the week and hey, if you want to start looking for the weekend as a motivator to get your butt moving, then do it!
Keep in mind you rock either way! :)
It's the weekend and some unexpected plans come up but you have nothing new to wear and you are short on money. What to do?! Have you ever looked at your closet and everything you pull out has either been worn recently or you are just not that into it anymore? Well it happens to me all the time. You do not need to waste time and money scrounging around trying to put something together you did not even want to wear in the first place. With the right tools you are on the way to creating fabulous outfit.
If you answered yes to all of these, then you are all set to go. Start with the basics that you own and add on. Put on those jeans (if you are more comfortable with regular fit jeans, that is fine also). Dependent on the weather and where you are going, put on that plain shirt. (it is better if that shirt is fitted). Then browse your closet or a blazer; it can be one you wear professionally to work or one you wear casually and throw that on top of the shirt (do not button). The beauty of wearing the basics, you can add colors and textures on top. Then head over to your necklaces; preferably a statement piece. If you throw on a plain colored blazer and simple necklace, grab a skinny belt and add that onto your jeans. Whether if you are a heels or flats girls, make sure you pick one that has a pop of color. I have learned that you can turn the most simple pieces of clothing into the most fashionable by adding accessories and color. Play around with colors and patterns and decide what makes you comfortable. Try pairing those work items you wear daily with something you usually would wear going out.
Enjoy & With Love,
There are so many animals that need homes and someone to love them like they deserve to be. Have you ever looked into a face of an animal in a cage at a shelter and NOT feel sad for them? If you haven't then honestly you have no souls. There are various and numerous reasons why you should adopt rather than shop. There are sooooo many animals that need your love without you forking out money and contributing to these big chained pet stores. Take a look at your local animal shelter or humane society and you will see there are a lot of adoptable dogs and animals. I know that some people do not want a full grown adult or only want the young pets; which there is nothing wrong with that. But can you tell me that a 5 year old cat is less of a "good cat" just because he was thrown out by it's owners? No, you cannot. The next time you are looking to get a cat or dog, take a look at your animal shleters first, or even if you know someone who cannot take care of their pets and give those fur babies a loving home, they all deserve one. Just like you, they have hearts too.
There are always adopting events going on also at stores such as Petco and Pet Smart so check those out also.
Contact your local shelter and see what they have now!
For my local Metro Detroit/Macomb County Residents, check out a Macomb Animal Shelter or Humane Society of Macomb
