Raise your hand if you've ever heard of Galena, IL? I'll just imagine that you did not. Galena's historic downtown area is about 3 hour West of Chicago. Small but the downtown area is filled with so many shops, most or all original and unique! They call this the "Helluva Half Mile". When life is constantly busy and you're running a hundred miles a minute, it's nice to do a little escape for the day. Me personally, no I would not ever be able to live in such a small town. Hello suburban girl! Luckily we got to enjoy a little brisk sunshine before the snow kicked in. Buttttt it is probably so beaut when there is snow on the ground! Need a little break? Throw on some sneaks (stylish or comfy of course) and your best and warm attire to discover meow.
Fun non Do'Lache Space-esk fact: The Ulysses S. Grant Home is in Galena, Illinois

It's December in the Midwest, 4 things come to my mind: The beginning of frigid temps, possible adventuring to do outside activities or staying warm inside all day/night. If you're like me, then from the months of December to March you have a heck of a time finding cute outerwear. And you just want to live in sweats and athletic wear all day. Okay maybe that one is just me. This season, I've vowed to make an extra effort to explore my cold weather pieces and pieces and say no to frump - even on those "don't want to get dressed" days [air fist bumping in my head right now]. To be honest, I tend to not venture and buy new pieces during the winter months for the sole reason of rehearing my same few go to pieces. I also spend most of the winter weekends bumming out at home or not really getting dressed when I DO leave the house.
Hello, hi Avalanche! I was introduced to this brand last month - guilty of being a consistent customer of another huge outdoor wear company [no names named and shhhhh pricing is awesome sauce]. There were 2 things that drew me in on one particular item they had [the Slalom Pullover]: thumbholes & supperrrrr comfortable interior! Ever since I got this, literally have worn it 2 or 3 times a week when I'm lounging at home after work or on the weekends. Oh did I say thumbholes? Weird how I get excited about little things like that. But yes - gimme gimme! Some of my other favorites are the Celsius Insulated Long Coat and the Juliette Insulated Jacket. [if you haven't already, click and check em out].
So goodbye to frump frump - I'll just live in this piece all winter in and out of the house!
Want to see more pieces? Head here!

Every season, I tend to have an obsession over a single piece of clothing...then buy in every color. Obviously. This fall it's corduroy skirts! Play with your hemline this season. Yassssss - I am loving this trend right now. It's a piece where you can dress up or down, day or night. Don't need to cover those legs up this fall, I like pairing mine with a pair of tights or thigh high boots. I mean, I DO live in the Midwest - it's a tad chilly during these months.
For this look, I played a little mix and match with patterns and ensemble pieces. And this burgundy color is totally in this Fall. Already planning my next corduroy haul (insert running emoji here).
Fun little fact: these tights & booties are some of my all time fav pieces.

Hey blogger gals and guys, you all know where I am heading with this one. I've been inspired by a lot of the larger bloggers and influencer's posts lately and wanted to express my thoughts on this subject as well...
We take 100 pictures to get that 1 great one and BAM. That's our social media post for everyone to like and comment on how great we look. In all reality, there might have been 100 pictures taken, there might have been slight photoshopping, there might have been some weird positions. But this my folks, is what we ALL do. If you tell me you NEVER do any of these things, please please let me meet you in person and show me your tricks! I personally myself have gone through the struggles of being envious of another's posts because they're so "perfect". Me, myself have used a friend, my husband, strangers and an actual photographer to shoot and if they can always capture the right angles and "THE SHOT" the first try, blogging life would be a lot easier.
Let me entertain your eyes with some unedited, eyes closed, never would I put on social media pictures.
Just as I was posting those above, I wanted to make some edits really quick. The social media mind almost took over. I can go into a big rant about the psychology of it all but if you want to read about that, gladly leave a comment or email me! [insert Psych major Sandra here]
I would leave you with some more appealing social media worthy pictures, but I'll leave that to the channels. [enter shameless plug here]

1 year anniversary, wedding and our first time in South Carolina. Hello Hilton Head Island! We made a short trip to the south for a fun filled mini getaway. As I am typing, I'm envisioning driving on the freeway with the top down [mustang that is] wind blown hair [which ended up completely knotted]. We had the pleasure of staying at Sonesta Hilton Head Resort [which by the way, we've had great experiences at the Sonesta in St. Maarten as well]. Talking about making a gal feel special. We were greeted by the director of rooms, wonderful front desk staff and some in room wine & cheese. Who doesn't love that?! Me Me!
I called this our pre Labor Day-end of summer trip. Wishing Mother Nature was a bit on our side but nothing stopped us from getting pool time & cocktails. Buh bye bikini & short shorts [pessimist side coming out here].
This girl was able to fit so much in a matter of 2 and half days: 1 full year of wedded bliss, celebrated a friend's wedding & enjoy last bits of summer. And do blogger things obviously.
Tell me what's your favorite mini getaway place, we'll add them to our "places to visit" list.
With love & getaways,

Wise words miss Carrie, wise words.
Have you ever looked at two pieces of clothing and think "nah these would never go together"? I've learned to embrace the beauty of mix and matching textures, patterns, styles and odd combinations. The results so far: wonderful. This is a new series on the blog where I mix different articles of clothes and make an entire look. Catch it once a week here on Do'Lache Space.
Here comes my "Carrie Bradshaw" moment...Sex and the City fans, you get me. All I kept wanting to do wearing this look was twirl and dance in the streets [enter dancing girl emoji].
I took a denim distressed long sleeve knee length dress & paired it with a cream colored tulle skirt. The beauty about this combo was that the skirt was fuller and that disguised the tucked in dress. This is a great look for those fashionable business work attire environments!
I'd love to hear what you'd like to see mixed together, drop a comment below or send me a note at email@example.com

Destinations: Rome & Milan, Italy
Favorite spots: Colosseum & Galleria Vittorio Emanuele
This was our first stop on this leg of the trip & it was my 30th birthday, woohoo! Our usual vacations have consisted of Caribbean destinations and beaches, this was exciting for me to do something different. The architecture, landmarks, history was absolutely amazing and a must see. We explored Rome by foot (which is highly recommended by the way) and got to see so many things along the way to our destinations. We hit the most common spots, ate massive amounts of gelato & stuffed our bellies with deliciousness. Visuals are sometimes better than text, in this series of blogs it is. Check it out through our eyes below.
Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain & More
Galleria vittorio emanuele & duomo di milano

When you take a group of creative minds and mix them together, what do you get? An insanely awesome photoshoot collaboration. I was glad to be able to be a part of this and helped with the wardrobe styling. Thanks to my obsession with the color black, this shoot was purr-fecttt!
This blog post is a little different from my previous posts because I want to include less wording and show you these awesome pictures my girl Chelsea Bistue did! AKA my personal photographer as well. The hair, makeup, the girls, the pictures, the clothes, a little bit of all of our creative minds joined forces & you will be it below. Keep scrolling!

Tis the season of love, laughter, drinks and marriage! We're slowly approaching the summer wedding season. I know there are a lot of women out there that get in a tussle trying to find the right dress for a wedding. I'm not saying I'm a wedding attendee clothing expert but I can surely point you in the right direction!
Things to consider:
Black tie event
Same as every other day wear, wear what is comfortable for you!
Depending on your budget & flexibility you can find numerous great dresses.
I am a planner so this usually happens at least a month or so in advance.
Did you know that you can rent designer dresses for more than half off the retail price?! Whoaaa mind blown eh. Head to Rent the Runway for that here.
(And no, I was not paid for that little endorsement, just a personal fav.) There is only one thing to remember...DONT WEAR WHITE! Unless there is some request from the bride to have guests wear it of course :)
I've gathered a few different dresses below for this summer/fall wedding season. Click on the pictorials for details!
Here are some wedding dresses that you can wear to any type of wedding
As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments! Happy wedding season.
With love & weddings,
Fashionistas and ruffles go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. It's all the craze right now and I am not complaining. To be honest, I really wasn't on board at first either because it reminded me of the 16th century. I jumped on that band wagon once I saw this white ruffled mesh sleeved top from SheIn. Numerous outfit ideas popped in my head and couldn't wait to wear it.
Denim romper + ruffle top = love.
This is the perfect spring/summer combo.
Summer is (hopefully) around the corner and I'm collecting rompers of all colors and patterns. One of the best piece of clothing to own in the warmer months. I'll be returning back to this Tobi denim romper a lot this summer.
